When a child experiences hair loss because of illness, treatment, alopecia, burns, or another condition, the change can affect far more than appearance. It may influence how comfortable they feel at school, in photos, with friends, or simply when looking in the mirror.
Little Heroes Hair provides free, custom-made human hair wigs to children experiencing hair loss. Every wig is made possible by people who choose to give in different ways: donating hair, making a financial contribution, dedicating a gift, or sharing professional skills.
You do not need to make a large donation to take part. The most meaningful first step is choosing the kind of support that works for you.
1. Donate Hair

A hair donation can become part of something deeply personal: a wig designed to help a child feel more comfortable and confident in everyday life.
Before cutting your hair, please review these requirements:
• Donated hair must be at least 8 inches long.
• Hair should be clean and completely dry.
• Secure the hair in a ponytail or braid before cutting.
• Keep the cut hair secured with an elastic band.
• Place the dry hair in a sealed plastic bag for mailing.
• Gray hair is accepted.
• Untreated hair is preferred, but chemically treated hair in good condition may also be accepted.
After your haircut, register your donation online through the Little Heroes Hair website. Donors receive a personalized certificate of appreciation by email.

2. Make a Financial Donation
Financial gifts help Little Heroes Hair continue providing wigs to children at no cost to their families. Contributions can support the work involved in creating and delivering a custom wig, including materials, customization, and related program expenses.
The secure online donation form offers several suggested amounts, or you may enter an amount that feels right for you. A receipt will be sent to the email address provided during checkout.
Whether it is a one-time gift from one person or a group fundraiser, every contribution helps move the mission forward.

3. Give in Honor of Someone

A dedicated donation can turn a birthday, anniversary, holiday, graduation, or memorial into a gift of support for a child.
On the donation page, select “Dedicate this donation” and follow the prompts. You may choose to honor someone special, remember a loved one, or replace traditional gifts with donations to Little Heroes Hair.
Some simple ways to invite tribute gifts include:
• Asking for donations instead of birthday or holiday presents.
• Creating a classroom, team, church, or community giving challenge.
• Making a donation in honor of a hairstylist, caregiver, teacher, or loved one.
• Including the donation link in an event invitation or celebration page.

4. Partner as a Business, Salon, or Community Organization

Organizations can often make a larger impact by bringing people together. A partnership may begin with one event, one employee campaign, or one salon offering its expertise.
Ways to participate may include:
• Salon partnership: Help with wig fitting, trimming, styling, or guidance so a child can enjoy a comfortable, natural-looking result.
• Employee giving: Organize a workplace fundraiser or ask whether your company offers employee gift matching.
• Sponsored campaign: Dedicate a portion of sales, host a hair donation day, or support a specific community fundraising goal.
• Community outreach: Schools, churches, clubs, and nonprofits can help families learn that free wig support is available.
• Professional or in-kind support: Businesses may contact Little Heroes Hair to discuss relevant services, event support, or other appropriate contributions.
